Abstract

To investigate the interference to outboard engine generated by reversed jet flow of inboard engine, potential flow theory is applied to conduct numerical simulation of the inlet flow field and reversed jet flow integrative model. The results show that the ratio of reversed jet velocity to airplane slip velocity is a key parameter to judge whether the outboard engine ingests the reversed jet flow or not. Furthermore, controlling the reversed jet velocity and the rotating speed of the outboard engine will prevent the outboard engine from ingesting the reversed jet flow effectively.
