Abstract

In order to solve the problem of energy supply for detection and sense electric equipment of underwater detection vehicles, and explore the feasibility of developing ocean sloshing energy produced by ocean environment, a direct-drive ocean kinetic energy generation device prototype was preliminarily designed. The mechanical and electrical model of system was established according to the moment of momentum theorem and the electromagnetic induction principle. The numerical and trials analyses of generation system were conducted using developing direct-drive ocean kinetic energy generation device prototype;the numerical calculation results were consistent with the trial results. The instantaneous output power research results show that the output power can reach 5.8 W under a roll excitation motion with 6° amplitude, 1.0 Hz resonance frequency and 0.875 Nm·s/rad damping coefficient. The trial and analysis results of average generation performance show that the resonance frequency of direct-drive ocean kinetic energy converter is 1.1 Hz for small amplitude excitation and 1.0 Hz for large amplitude excitation under 0.875
