Abstract

A model of "meta-atom " structure based on hollow steel tube (HST) was presented, which could achieve the negative effective mass density demonstrated by the acoustic transmission experiments and numerical calculation results. The transmission properties resulted from the change of microstructure geometry of hollow steel tube were studied in order to illustrate the structural properties of the HST. The results showed that the change of the HST geometry affected the transmittance band gap frequency of acoustic metamaterials.
