Abstract

This review summarizes the recent research progress on the hot deformation behavior of dual-phase high entropy alloys (HEAs) by focusing on the flow behavior, microstructural evolution, constitutive models, and optimal hot working windows. The enormous potential of hot processing in eliminating casting defects, achieving grain refinement, and enhancing the mechanical properties of dual-phase HEAs is elaborated. The effects of hot deformation parameters on the flow stress behavior and the microstructural evolution are described, with a focus on analyzing the dynamic recrystallization (DRX) mechanisms of each phase. Subsequently, the mainstream constitutive models for predicting flow stress during hot deformation, including the Arrhenius and Artificial neural network (ANN) models, are evaluated. In addition, the application of processing maps based on the dynamic materials model (DMM) for characterizing instability flow during hot deformation of dual-phase HEAs is introduced. Meanwhile, the influence of hot rolling on the microstructure and mechanical properties of AlCoCrFeNi2.1 dual-phase HEA is investigated. Finally, prospects and suggestions for future work in this field are proposed.
