Abstract

This paper investigates the equivalence between typical topologies of Z-source circuit breakers based on a segmented linearization modeling method. By modeling the dynamic characteristics of the circuit before and after the commutation of the thyristor switch, a modeling method for Z-source circuit breaker topology equivalence analysis is proposed. Simulation and experimental results confirm that the topologies demonstrate highly consistent fault interruption characteristics when the equivalence constrains are met. This modeling method can provide valuable insights for topology improvement for Z-source circuit breakers and Z-source converters.
