A Compact Unidirectional Radiated Microstrip RFID Tag Antenna

Abstract

A compact unidirectional radiated microstrip RFID tag antenna is proposed and investigated in this paper. The λ/5 rectangular microstrip antenna is adopted to achieve compact size and unidirectional radiated performance. Slots are utilized to reduce the size of antenna and increase the directivity. The antenna can achieve 8+50j impedance and unidirectional radiation at the frequency of 868MHz, which is suitable for RFID applications above water or metal.
