Abstract

As an important part in marine gear transmission system, gearbox will produce vibration and noise in the working process because of the excitation of gear system. This vibration and noise will not only influence the comfort in cabin, but also pose a threat to the security of ship. The research development in analysis method and control measure of marine gearbox vibration and noise is reviewed according to its characteristics such as big size, complex structure, various installation types and so on. In the aspect of analysis method, the advantages and disadvantages of gear system-gearbox finite element model for vibration analysis are compared with those of gear system lumped mass model and gearbox finite element model for vibration analysis. The characteristics and research developments of finite element method (FEM), boundary element method (BEM), statistical energy analysis (SEA), hybrid FE-SEA method, etc. are introduced. The methods to consider the influence of installation types are summarized. In the aspect of control measure, the methods to guide the improvement of gearbox for reduction of vibration and noise are introduced. The methods to determine the damping material arrangement position, way and thickness are summarized. Finally, the problems needed to be further studied are disscussed.
