Abstract
Here, unclear lubrication performance and unclear support characteristics of ship water lubricated stern bearings under complex working conditions were studied. The calculation model for lubrication characteristics of stern bearings was established, and lubrication characteristics of friction interface were studied. Effects of eccentricity, length to diameter ratio and rotating speed on stiffness and damping of stern bearings were analyzed. The critical takeoff speed under different clearance ratios and relations between rotating speed and stiffness and damping characteristics of stern bearings were explored, and effects of bearing parameters on comprehensive support characteristics of stern bearings were revealed. Then, the influence mechanism of clearance ratio on lubrication dynamic characteristics of stern bearings was clarified. It was shown that the study results can provide a theoretical basis for dynamic characteristics and dynamic response calculation of stern bearings.
