Abstract

The efficient bypass ratio regulating ability and good flow holding capacity are the advantage of adaptive cycle engine, leading to its becoming the ideal power device for next generation fighter and future supersonic civil aircraft. In view of the long-term leadership of the United States in the field of adaptive cycle engine, the development process of the adaptive cycle engine in the United States was divided into four stages, and the development process, technical correlations and structural features of adaptive cycle engines under a series of military/civil research projects were described. The basic structural form of adaptive cycle engine was sorted out. The key technologies and development process of adaptive cycle engine such as overall performance design, inlet/engine matching, low emission, low noise, advanced materials and additive manufacturing were summarized so as to provide some reference for the development of adaptive cycle engine in China.
