Abstract

The wide application of composite propellant requires a better adjustable performance of burning rate and pressure exponent. In recent years, the pressure exponent of solid propellant was of great significance to the stability of motor, and had become a research hotspot in the field of solid propellant and motor. In this paper, the combustion theory of composite propellant, the connotation and influence law as well as the specific control means of pressure exponent were summarized. The regulation mechanism of pressure exponent were summarized, the limitations of existing research were pointed out, and the future research trend was analyzed. It is suggested to concern the following aspects: broadening the regulation methods of pressure exponent and improving the regulation efficiency. Solving the pressure exponent failure under high pressure and realizing the controllable combustion under high pressure. Refining and quantifying the influence of various factors on the pressure exponent to provide support for the establishment of the pressure exponent regulation system. Adopting advanced diagnostic methods to explore the mechanism of pressure exponent regulation. Improving the combustion model of composite propellant, and establishing a pressure exponent control system.
