Abstract
In order to improve the adhesion strength between steel shell and silicone rubber-based external protection coatings essentially, an interfacial treating agent using organic silicon compounds as the main component was developed and the chemical structure was characterized by FT-IR based on the physicochemical properties of external surfaces of motor steel shell and the composition and reactivity of silicone rubber-based external protection coatings. The process parameters of interfacial treating agent, such as storage time, concentration, curing time, curing temperature and organic solvents resistance were studied. The influences of interfacial treating agent coating on the interfacial adhesion strength between steel shell and silicone rubber-based external protection coatings were studied by steel adhesion test specimen. Adhesion test results indicate that the adhesion strength is more than 2.0 MPa, which is bigger than the adhesion strength (1.2~1.3 MPa) without interfacial treating agent. Dynamic arc wind tunnel test indicate that the adhesion properties between steel shell and silicone rubber-based external protection coatings are reliable after coating interfacial treating agent. The process expansion test of interfacial treating agent on a certain type of motor indicate that the adhesion properties of interfacial treating agent are stable and meet the solid motor's application requirements.
